  FAQ

Why Should I register?
This question is so important we've answered it three times.

1. Someone has to be first
Gamers need a good way to find other gamers. We know it's tempting to only join after everyone else joins, but then we all sit at home staring at our 3-6 player games in shrink wrap. Be brave! Be a leader! Register today!

2. Meet new people without sharing your personal information
Sure you want to find new gamers, but that doesn't mean you're super excited about having your contact information floating around the Internet, or hanging on scraps of paper in your local game store. By joining Spielerz you can find gamers in your area and set up opportunities to game all without ever sharing your e-mail address or even your real name.

3. It's easy, and free
Come on, you've got nothing to lose, we won't spam you, or sell your information to other people who might spam you. We'll send you a newsletter, but only if you say it's ok, and we'll let you know when you have new messages on the site. Click here to see the official word on how important your privacy is to us.

What should I do if I'm the only Spielerz member in my area?
Spielerz is brand new, so it may take some time for it to catch on in your area. We are visiting gaming conventions and canvasing the Internet to get the word out, but we need your help. Click here to print flyers to hang at your local game store, college campus, or other likely gamer locations. Tell your friends about Spielerz, or write about us on your website or blog. The more information about Spielerz that is out in the world, the more quickly people will sign up, and the better your chances of finding local players in your area. For more information visit our partner page, Find Gamers in your Local Area.

I'm registered, and there are people in my area, but no one has contacted me!
When I was young, mom used to tell me the best way to get mail, was to send people letters. The same is true here.

Other ways to increase traffic to your profile include:

  • Post an image (It doesn't need to be a photo, just something that captures your personality)
  • Fill out your profile completely. The more people know about you, the more likely they are to contact you.
  • Be interesting--what makes you unique in the gaming world?
  • Be specific--what kind of gamers are you looking for?

Finally, start a Spielerz blog. New blog entries are posted on the front page, so it's a great way to get noticed by the whole Spielerz community. Plus, blog posts can be searched so the more you write about what you like and the kinds of gamers you are looking for, the more likely it is you will be found.

Do you have any way for me to show off my Spielerz.com membership in Public?
We're so glad you asked. Click here to visit our Cafe Press Store.

Have you considered {insert idea to improve the Spielerz.com site}?

It's possible, but the only way to be sure is to contact us with your idea. Send us email at biz@spielerz.com or send us a message on the site. We love to hear from people. Also, if you find a bug, be sure to tell us that too.

How do I change my Profile?

To update your profile click "edit profile" in the member panel on the left. Here you can change your email address, search preferences, location, games you like to play, and game-styles you like. To change your gamer story or your gaming style, you need to click to the second profile tab entitled, "gaming".

After you've made your changes, click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page to save.

To change your password, click "change password" and follow the instructions on the page.

When someone emails me, where does the email go and how do I respond?
When a member sends you a note, it goes straight into your on-site message Inbox. We then send an email to your personal email address to let you know that it's there.

To read the note, simply login to the site and click "Messages" in the navigation panel on the left. If you decide to write back, simply click "reply", write your own note and send away. Your note will go straight into the member's onsite Inbox, and we'll let them know it's there with an email to their personal email address.

All communications with other members stay onsite so that you never have to give out any personal information unless you want to.
